As you have likely heard by now, The Love Akron Network recently hired our 2nd Executive Director in the ministry’s 24-year history.  After a lengthy search, Kemp Boyd was chosen to lead Love Akron into the future.  We are excited for all of the enthusiasm and passion he has brought to the job in such a short period of time and are confident God will use him and his giftings to widen our Network’s reach, with even greater community impact.  Today we welcome Kemp to the blog to share just a few brief thoughts about his time with us thus far, as well as a few details about his family.

I’m new to the blogging world, so I welcome your patience with me as I learn the ropes.  The first thing I want to say, on behalf of my family and myself, is THANK YOU!  The overwhelming support, encouragement, and prayers coming our way since the announcement of my selection has been greatly appreciated.  Please continue those prayers in the upcoming days, weeks, and months ahead, as I take the helm of this incredible ministry.

It’s hard to believe I’ve been in the position as the Executive Director of The Love Akron Network for just 3 weeks.  It’s been a bit of a whirlwind as I’ve started working through the on-boarding process, with one of my biggest tasks being simply getting out into the community.  I’ve enjoyed meeting new people and reintroducing myself to others in the context of what I’m now doing with Love Akron.  I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of listening and am excited by all the things I’m hearing and the possibilities for growth and partnerships.  Pastor Mark Ford has been such a blessing to me, guiding me through this process.  What an incredible privilege to sit and discuss the future with the man who set the vision and foundation and paved the way for where The Love Akron Network is today.

I wouldn’t be able to do this job or anything else without the strong support of my family.  If you want to know more about me, just look at my family or tribe.  We’re a tight-knit bunch.  I’ve been married to an amazing woman, Stacy, for 14 years.  In fact, we celebrated our Anniversary just 2 days ago on April 30.  Stacy and I met in church, and when God revealed to me that she was to be my wife, I didn’t waste time. I proposed to Stacy in December, and we married in April.  We have 6 beautiful children, each with their own character and personality.  Their ages range from the oldest at 13 to the youngest, who is 1-year-old.  As you can imagine, we have a busy household, but we make time to serve together.  Service is very important to us, and many volunteer activities we participate in, we often do as a family.

Some people have asked me, “Why Love Akron?”  I believe that Love Akron’s call to pray, unite, and collaborate should be the call and passion of all believers. The challenge we face in Akron is to put His kingdom first and work together to that end. I have sensed for a while now that the Holy Spirit is ready to move powerfully in this city and that Love Akron is strategically positioned to be a central part of His movement.  What an honor and privilege to lead this ministry, God’s ministry, into the future He has called us to and to help bring transformation to the Greater Akron Area.  I’ll close in the same way I like to end my emails.

Soli Deo Gloria, Glory to God Alone

Kemp – Welcome to the Love Akron family. I am so happy to see you in this position. Love Akron Network is such a fabulous organization and I know you will bring much to the table. As you know, I volunteered there for 6 years and I have met so many wonderful people. It was a pure pleasure to serve Mark Ford. I am also looking forward to helping you in any manner that I am needed. My love to you and Stacy as you move this organization forward. “Mama Fran”
