why it matters
At Love Akron, we believe that prayer must be at the forefront of our efforts to see our city thrive. Inspired by the biblical command in Leviticus 6:13, 'The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out,' we are committed to maintaining a constant spiritual fire through proactive prayer initiatives. We pray monthly for our education sector through our EDU Prayer, and we host the Greater Akron Prays (GAP), a monthly gathering dedicated to seeking God's guidance and blessing over our community. Additionally, we steward the National Day of Prayer in Summit County, uniting believers to pray for our nation, and organize special prayer calls during times of tragedy or crisis to bring comfort and divine intervention. Our goal is to keep prayer as a proactive, not reactive, effort—believing that through persistent prayer and spiritual dedication, we can help our city flourish and experience God’s fullness.

"If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be criticized for asking."
"Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace."
"Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down."
